Summary Description
- Help sustain the founding religious spirit of the institution.
- Creatively retell the story of the founders, their history and tradition.
- Invite discovery of Franciscan spirituality.
- Engender and promote collaboration regarding Mission.
- Provide information on St. Francis, St Bernardine, and the Third Order Franciscan Movement.
- Illuminate the distinctive aspects of Francisican higher education.
Mission Advisory Council
The purpose of the Mission Advisory Council of Alvernia College is to:
- address issues and trends at Alvernia with a mission focus;
- develop programs that strengthen awareness of Core Values;
- advise and support the work of the mission integration officer;
- advance the Franciscan mission at Alvernia College.
The current composition of the Advisory Council includes the mission integration
officer, 1 faculty member, and 3 staff personnel.

Bachelor of Arts in Theology
Theology/Philosophy Major: 42 credit hours as prescribed
Theology Major: 30 credit hours as prescribed
Theology Minor: 18 credit hours as prescribed
Theology Requirement: 6 hours
Human Diversity Requirement: 3 hours
Human Service Credit Option
1 hour of academic credit per year by coordinating service with learning and integrating an ethic of service across the curriculum.

Human Services Requirement for Graduation - All candidates for the Bachelor of Arts Degree must complete 40 clock hours of approved community service. All candidates for the Associate of Arts Degree must complete 20 clock hours of community service. These expectations are coordinated by the Office of Community Service.
